The threshold space which allows the transition between the city and the housing, is still a question for architects. Through the study of Chinese culture, this master thesis tries to understand the possibilities of a contemporary threshold space in the residential towers in Shanghai. With its ambiguous situation in the city, the threshold space could become an inexhaustible source of architectural and urban innovations.
