This paper focuses on the conceptual definition of slow tourism and the geographic analysis towards the establishment and development of slow tourism in Alsace. The paper analyzes the relationship between slow mobility and slow tourism development in Alsace from three scales of the Alsace region, the “SlowUp Alsace” event zone, and the Sélestat area.

First of all, the paper starts with a logical combing and systematic literature review for slow tourism, including the theoretical origin, development background, concept, and characteristics. Secondly, on the basis of the theoretical research on slow tourism, the research focuses on the Alsace scale, systematically sorting out the slow tourism routes and activities that have been established and developed in the Alsace over these years.

At the same time, the mobility facilities that contribute to tourism development can be analyzed. Then, the research zooms into the geographic analysis and case study of the “SlowUp Alsace” event, which has an increasingly important impact on Alsace tourism development. The evolution of slow mobility in the slow tourism area and its impact on regional development can be analyzed by mapping research. Finally, through the observation of slow tourism attractions and slow mobility initiatives, the slow tourism development potential based on slow mobility can be foreseen in Sélestat area.
