While Shanghai is turning into a global city striked by unprecedented urban mutations, some tracks of land are tackling a stereotyped idea of modernity. In fact, while the city appears divided between skyscrapers and indecent traditional housing some areas ensures the preservation of a specific urban fabric and reveal the cosmopolitan aspect of Shanghai. One of this area, « Shanghai Music Valley » in Hongkou District holds out the possibility to interconnect this twofold city, exacerbating the major challenge of Shanghai : conciliate a global culture and economy with local social practices in order to perpetuate a vibrant neighborhood life, revealing the Shanghainese atmosphere.
