Shanghai, like many other cities in China, has transformed the development mode from sprawling to the stock renewal, which requires more participation in order to achieve the high quality outcome. The project is developing a renewal proposal for the whole Kangjian Community, Shanghai, based on the Participatory Planning and Design. First, we identify the problems, other issues and its potential in the community. Then, we take the form of on-site workshop, in order to develop the renewal proposal through the Participatory Planning and Design step by step. Finally, we get the compromised proposal reflecting the different interests of the stakeholders, while is still innovative with the creative strategies to deal with the issues.
