Joint Urban Studio
In the continuity of the IMM FabLab "Micro-space reconstruction" (2018), the Joint Urban Studio 2018 focused on the urban integration of elevated transport infrastructures.
Elevated transport infrastructures are complex objects that do not fit easily into urban spaces. In addition to their deleterious effects on neighborhoods, such as noise, vibrations and shadows, the residual spaces created are often left unused. These neglected spaces create barriers in cities, so that transport infrastructure built to connect areas, become obstacles to mobility and urban development.
How to transform and inhabit the underside of elevated infrastructures, particularly the aerial highways of Shanghai? How to overcome their negative impact and transform them in desirable urban environments ?
