Lang FAN, Chinese architect and doctoral student in architecture, invited Valérie Lebois, psychosociologist and researcher at the AMUP research laboratory, to share her thoughts on one of the fields of investigation of her thesis. Both are interested in the residential spaces, one working in the Shanghai context, the other in Paris. They surveyed together in March 2014 a high-rise neighborhood in Shanghai crossing their gaze between architecture and social sciences, between Chinese culture and French culture. It is this common exploration that is delivered here.

The work presented here is part of a joint research grant funded by UKNA - Urban Knowledge Network Asia. The researchers were hosted by Centre for Urban and Regional Studies (CURS) of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.
