Growth Beyond Shrinkage

Scholars from all over the world have pointed out the phenomenon of urban shrinkage. In particular, its important characterization phenomenon of population large, continuous loss, more and more widely occurs in all kinds of Chinese cities, or occurs in the whole city, or in local parts of the city. Actually, this is the spatial redistribution of social well-being and job opportunities resulting from the regional migration of the population and enterprises, simultaneously occuring both the decline of employment space and the abandonment of residential space. This study focuses on these urban issues, such as, is there a never-disappearing growth core area in the city and what is its distribution law ? What is the engine of driving the city from recession to growth ? And, what are the rules of the distribution and evolution of shrinking space in urban area. It gives the mechanism interpretation answers rather than the description of surface phenomena, by combining econometrics with spatial analysis methods.
